| When Dr. Bill Kinkaid
came to his office on a Sunday morning after being out of
town for 3 days he was shocked when he opened the front
door. A pipe to the water heater had burst and his entire
office was flooded. He called a friend who recommended that
he call Tyson Construction and Restoration. He did and they
were on the job within 1 hour. The insurance adjustor told
him to expect to be out of business for 3 weeks. The emergency procedures
performed by Tyson Construction had him back in business
within a few days and saved his business thousands in lost
revenue. |

Water damage restoration requires specialized training to
prevent secondary damage of both structure and contents. In a water
damage claim, rapid response is critical. Most insurance policies
require property owners to take the necessary steps to prevent the
damage from spreading. Step 1 in handling a water damage claim is
calling your insurance company and notifying them of the claim.
Step 2 would be to call an experienced water damage remediation
contractor. Failure to do this often results in more extensive
damage than would have occurred if the water damage were properly
mitigated. If left alone water migrates into areas not affected by
the original water intrusion. Water will spread laterally into
adjoining rooms, penetrate material below and wicks up several feet
into drywall and insulation.
Water damaged materials begin swelling as they absorb moisture. In
many situations drying and restoration procedures, if started soon
enough, will restore them to their original condition. It takes an
experienced water damage specialist to find all the areas where
water may have migrated and prevent future hidden damage. Tyson
Construction has state of the art extraction equipment ( see
picture below) high velocity fans and commercial dehumidifiers
needed to dry out a structure quickly and prevent secondary damage.

As water migrates into building materials such as carpet, drywall
and wood, it creates an ideal condition for mold. Moisture and high
humidity need to be reduced quickly. After water intrusion, mold
spores can germinate and multiply rapidly. Given acceptable growth
conditions, one organism can multiply to more than one billion
organisms in 24 hours. Time is of the essence in water damage
claims. That's why Tyson Construction
and
Restoration
is on call at all times. Our extraction van, has
state of the art extraction equipment ready to handle any size job.Insurance restoration is a very specialized branch of General

The following picture shows the destructive force of
a pine tree that was pushed over during a hurricane. The owners were in their
bed when the tree hit. They were lucky to escape serious injury as large
limbs pierced the bed all around them. You can see how the roof has collapsed. You
can't see the left side of the house, but the shear force of the tree pushed
most of the brick off, broke the concrete footing, and racked the entire
wall. A friend of theirs told them to call Steve Tyson and they were glad
they did. Very few contractors have the experience and know how to restore a
structure with this much wind damage.

The insurance restoration field is a specialized branch of General
Contracting. You need to have advanced training or you can cause more harm
than good when restoring water damage, fire damage, and wind damage. Insurance
adjustors recognize this and would prefer to see homeowners use an
experienced insurance restoration contractor so that the insurance claim is handled
quickly and professionally. Tyson Construction and Restoration is
located in New Bern, NC, and they work on claims in Jacksonville, Morehead
City, and Greenville. They are one of the largest insurance claims
contractors in Eastern North Carolina.
We hope you never need our services. But if disaster strikes, call the
